The Lakehouse
Perched just above the water in Acacia Bay, The Lakehouse is a contemporary custom home designed by Fraser Cameron Architects to embrace uninterrupted views across Lake Taupō.
Timeless design and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape by the water were central to the brief. The owners wanted a relaxed home away from home that would sit naturally within its setting and remain beautiful for generations.
This home gradually reveals itself upon arrival. It’s dark-stained cedar batten exterior frames the lake beyond while a refined palette of cedar, Truewood, limestone, bluestone, marble and oak brings warmth and character to the interior.
Careful craftsmanship is evident throughout the home, from the detailed timber finishes and dual stone kitchen islands to the seamless transitions between materials. Every element was thoughtfully executed to create a cohesive, enduring result.
The home includes two generous living areas, four private bedrooms, three bathrooms and an adjoining sunroom positioned to capture the evening light. Window seats, fireplaces and an expansive deck provide inviting spaces to relax, entertain and enjoy the changing views across Lake Taupō.
